J&K Govt Announces Changes in Holidays for Martyr’s Day of Guru Arjun Dev Ji and Birthday of Guru Hargobind Ji

Jammu, June 9, 2024 — The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has issued a modification to the previously announced holidays for the Martyr’s Day of Guru Arjun Dev Ji and the Birthday of Guru Hargobind Ji. According to Government Order No. 1202-JK(GAD) of 2024, dated June 9, 2024, there have been changes to the dates on which these holidays will be observed.

In a partial modification of Government Order No. 1582-JK(GAD) of 2023 and Government Order No. 1583-JK(GAD) of 2023, both dated December 11, 2023, the following changes have been made:

1. Martyr’s Day of Guru Arjun Dev Ji: The restricted holiday will now be observed on June 10, 2024 (Monday), instead of the previously scheduled date of June 16, 2024 (Sunday).
2. Birthday of Guru Hargobind Ji: The public holiday will now be observed on June 22, 2024 (Saturday), instead of the earlier announced date of July 5, 2024 (Friday).

These changes have been implemented to better accommodate the observance of these significant days within the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. All concerned departments and the public are requested to note these changes and observe the holidays accordingly.
